AAS of Polysomnographic Technology
An innovative AAS
of Polysomnographic Technology is being offered by Highline Community
College.
The AAS of
Polysomnographic Technology
provides comprehensive preparation for entry into this important
field.
The AAS of Polysomnographic Technology
program is a
full-time seven quarter program
that only begins once a year in the fall quarter.
First Year
- During the first four quarters of
the program students will attend lecture/lab courses on the Highline
Community College campus.
- Hand-on skill
building will be developed on campus in the Respiratory
Laboratory throughout the four quarters.
- Patient contact will be provided in a hospital clinical
practicum during the third and fourth quarter.
Second Year
- Lecture courses
are offered in an on-line format to provide greater accessibility
and student convenience. To see an example of an on-line classroom

- Hands-on lab
experience is provided in conjunction with the on-line courses
at the state-of-the-art practice sleep lab on the Highline
Community
College campus. Students will have the opportunity to
develop skills under the guidance of instructors while
working in small groups. Laboratory sessions are scheduled during
the first two quarters of the program.
- A clinical internship
is provided in conjunction with the on-line courses during the
third quarter of the program. Students are assigned to individual
clinical internships in the area the live, there are more than 23 labs in the state.
Graduates will learn specific job skills
as well as communication skills, computational skills, applied
sciences, computer literacy, human relations and social science.

Students must complete prerequisite
classes and meet certain instructional
requirements to be accepted. Information regarding requirements

If you do not have a HCC student ID you will need to complete the

will find Admissions and Entry Services in building six.
Deadline for applications is May 10, 2010. After that date
applications will be accepted for the alternate list only.

Program Requirements
Before you will be eligible for
admission you must submit a packet containing all of the
following items to Highline:
- A Highline Community College
Application*. *New students only.
- A Polysomnography Program
Application. Fall quarter admittance only. The
application for 2009-2010 is currently available for
alternate status applicants only. The 2010-2011
applications will be available after December 1, 2009.
- Current resume with emphasis
on work experience.
- Transcripts from other
colleges you have attended for the WRIT 101 and science course
requirements. Transcripts from
Highline Community College do not need to be submitted.
